Violet Wing

A record for this delicate moment in time.

Twelve songs moving between the intimate and the planetary, asking what worlds are contained inside each other, what disappears, what remains, and what can still emerge from the materials we are left with. A contemplation of the Anthropocene and our human identity as we shape its trajectory.

The album

Pulsing from intimate to cosmic, from the rustle in the brush to the edge of the galaxy. An album of the worlds found tucked into every scale.

Violet Wing begins with a thought experiment - the aftermath of crossed tipping points. Then the record looks back into history of consciousness, traveling through the lives, losses, changes, choices and possible futures contained inside both human and non-human worlds.

The songs flows in and out of scale and metaphor: the fawn to the galaxy, a seed in the sand and the unknowable futures of a planet.

At the center is not a wish that damage becomes meaningful. It is a confronting question: what can life and creation make from conditions they did not choose?

Inside the Songs

01

Blink of an Eye

Cinematic and mournful, the album opens from the other side of the threshold , looking back after the damage can no longer be undone.

You can try to turn it back / but the sands have fallen

consequence · loss · remorse

02

’Til the Water Runs Clear

Dreamlike, cosmic, intimate: toes at the edge of the galaxy, night moths, rain, creation and destruction moving through the layered universe. A beckon to see worlds inside worlds, and to not turn your back on them.

Sleight of hand two doves appear / Did you look away the moment that this all got here?

creation · perception · wonder

03

Flash Flood

Borders between human, creature, and land consciousness begin to blur. A drought is dispelled, along with the civilization that caused it. Human as witness, as messenger, as conduit, as playful part of the tapestry of life.

Sage thrasher / Catch her dreamin’ in the cradle of the sky / How she wonders of the thoughts Of you and I…

power · land · memory

04

Jewel Eyes

Backroads, thickets, seduction and subversion. Predator and prey change positions. The feminine shapeshifting

Oh the calm you feign / But you are starving in your craft and all your eloquence astray / The moment that a woman walked your way / Oh what will I find in you?

desire · predator / prey · subversion

05

Winged Being

A butterfly caught in a web carries a second story underneath it: memory loss, family, the desire to help, and the grief of not being able to.

So there she wept / Her life now bounded by these silken threads / I said, / My love you don’t belong inside this web! / I said

confinement · memory · helplessness

06

Venom in the Nectar

The conflicted destruction of a part of oneself. Responsibility. Moral ambiguity. The altering of reality and time through personal choice, land as facilitator and witness.

Alone I stood with red stained lips / As a fever brewed and the owl’s young hissed / Where the spires and turrets had gone to myth / And the underground murmured / What is this?

choice · complexity · inner conflict

07

The Broken Tree

Deep isolation and despair. The survival of an inner light that flickers in just enough to make it bearable. The revelation of something meaningful hidden between the lines of disorientation, distress, and inner darkness.

“love your compass and memory your map / would you turn the arrow back?”

duality · hope · identity

08

Sky of Smoke (Chimera)

Human-caused wildfire and mass deforestation. The instant nature of destruction contrasted with the slow path of creation. The promise of healing falling short, because it will take too long to witness, and what was lost matters.

It only takes a second for a flame to run astray / A thousand years of old growth now in ashes oh they say / they say it takes a lifetime but it burned down in a day

wildfire · destruction · time scale

09

Darker Blooms

Being suspended in the darkness of grief that feels meaningless. The uncertain act of creation from a place of suffering.

“this death between no longer and not yet / a violet wing by midnight threads”

grief · emergence · duality

10

Seed in the Sand

The album turns toward unknowable futures: the interception of worlds of possibility.

“what if we ask what if? / and nobody answers / because nobody knows”

possibility · interception · future

11

As the World Burns

A lullaby at planetary scale: a child is rocked to sleep inside a world already transformed by the generations before them.

In your eyes it always was like this / A place of dust and fading remnants

inheritance · tenderness · grief

12

Prelude of the Flowers

The regeneration of life without us. The cosmos remembering the humans that once lived here.

regeneration · post-anthropocene · aftermath

what if we ask, what if?
and nobody answers, because nobody knows
the bloom of a seed in the sand
unknown until it grows

what if / what is?
the questions of possibility and choice

We can never know what worlds could have been when we take away their chance to become.

The arc

It begins in aftermath.

Violet Wing is a thought experiment reflective of the current trajectory of humanity. The rest of the record moves backward through what was contained inside the loss (where we are now, though we slip further away each day), then forward again into a world in which humans themselves become the memory.

AfterThe consequence is already visible.
InsideWe look closely at what the vanished world contained.
BetweenNo longer and not yet. Damage, grief, emergence.
BeyondNature regenerates without requiring our witness.
Unspeakably beautiful place
